Racing to Save Lives
Hello Family & Friends!!
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
Many of you know my mom is a very dedicated runner and became part of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training team about one year ago. After supporting her at 4 of her TNTraces I have become inspired to join the team & run my very FIRST half marathon.
I'm training to participate in the Rock and Roll half marathon in San Diego, CA as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of my great Aunt Lola, who lost her battle to lymphoma in October of 2008, and for all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission. I hope you will visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress.
I am very excited to start saving lives one mile at a time. Thank you in advance for all your support!
Personal Running Update(The most I have ever run in my life is 3 miles without stopping, however when I started training for this half marathon I could only do 1 mile without walking! Take a look at how I progress!)
- 1/30--Day 1 of training begins, 2 miles
- 2/6--Week 1 of training complete, 3 miles
- 2/13--Week 2 of training complete, 3 miles & it doesn't hurt!
- 2/20--Week 3 training complete, 4 miles (the most I've ever run in my life!)
- 2/28--Week 4 training complete, 4.25 miles
- 3/6--Week 5 training complete, 5.5 miles! FEELS SO GOOD!
- 3/13--Week 6 training complete, 5.5 miles...started the week of a little rough with an achilles pain, but worked through it
- 3/20--Week 7 training complete, 5 miles
- 3/28--Week 8 training complete, 6.46 miles (I'm half way there!!)
- 4/2--Week 9 training complete, 7 miles (I guess I had what they call a "bite me" stage, I hated every step of every mile on this run. Positive way of thinking: it will never get worse than that, so if I can make it through that I can continue my progress!)
- 4/11--Week 10 training complete, 5k America's Run @Cowboy Stadium (finished in 28:09, 3.1 miles, my best 5k time yet! & TROY AIKMAN was there!! What a reward!)
- 4/17--Week 11 training complete, 8.3 miles! (Started out running a local 5k. Ran it in 28:50 which is slower than last week, but didn't push myself too hard because I knew I still had 5 more to go. Felt great at the end of eight!!!!)
