***Update April 1st. Training is going fabulously!! We have been building for the last few months and now are starting to really add miles to our Saturday runs. This Saturday we hit 10. YAY! Running has been awesome this time around, but fundraising has been a little slow. Mad thanks to those who have donated. It means more than you know!!

At It Again.....

Yep. You read that right. I'm at it again. After what I thought to be my last marathon in March 2009 in Rome, Italy, I have reconsidered and decided to go for it again. There are many, many marathons I could run in, but when the opportunity to help out The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society presented itself again, I decided to jump right in. Why? Well duh; to be a part of something much bigger than myself. I will be running in the Rock and Roll Marathon in San Diego, CA on June 6. That's another 26.2 miles! :)

Yes, I could pay to go to San Diego on my own and run the Rock and Roll Marathon. Better yet, I could choose a local race which didn't cost anything and didn't require $2,900 worth of fundraising. Fundraising in this economy? Not easy and not fun. But now is when they need it the most. The patients are suffering through this eceonomy also and health care costs are staying the same. Families need our help more than ever and this is why I decided to do this.

I know times are tough....so even $5, $10, $20 helps so much. If everyone I know donated $20 I'd be done today and The Society would be that much closer to finding a cure for these dreaded cancers! If you take the steps to help me, I promise these things:

1). To train 4 times a week, rain, snow, sleet, wind or shine. ;)

2). To get up at 5:30 am every Saturday morning for the next 5 months to meet with my team and prepare for the race. The spirit and aura surrounding 50+ people standing out in the cold at 6:30 am all striving for a common goal is unexplainable. I am so blessed to be of such good health that I can participate in this and be a part of this.

3). To raise AT LEAST $2900 for blood cancer. None of which I keep; every penny goes straight to The Society. I have 4 other friends doing this with me, so together we will raise $14,500. WOW! I will not stop until this number is met; that's a promise.

5). Lastly to appreciate and be thankful for every last dollar that I receive. I know donating isn't easy right now....trust me, I know first hand. If you help me help them, you will not regret it, I promise you this! I truly believe that once we find the cure for ANY cancer, we will very shortly find the cure for ALL cancers.
