I saw this on the back of a bus the other day and it made me smile, but sad at the same time. I remember at an honored hero breakfast several years ago the director of TNT said that in the year 2015 there would be specific targeted treatments for patients dealing with Leukemia. 2015 is just a few days away and there is still so much work to be done! Lets get on it!!

Well... I have been waiting on pins and needles to hear back about being a match for someone who needed a bone marrow or stem cell transplant. I have been on the Be The Match registry since 2001. I got word yesterday that it was unlikely that they would be proceeding with testing for me to be a donor. This could happen for a number of reasons, but I will admit I was a little disappointed. I was really hoping to be THE person who saved someones life.
Instead, I've made my appointment to donate platelets on Monday and will have to just be satisfied with that!

Last week I was in a meeting at got three of the exact same emails from the be the match, National Marrow Donor Registry. I'm a match for someone! I have been on the registry since 2001.
I swear I was more excited for this than I think I've ever been for anything. While they are still in the early stages of determining the course of treatment for the patient- I feel like I've struck it big on the Saving-a-life wheel.
I've also signed up for my 20th Team in Training event!! I plan on running, walking or crawling the Nike DC half marathon at the end of April! Please make a donation to this very important cause!
