Racing to Save Lives

I’m a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. I’m running in the 2010 NIKE Women’s Marathon in San Francisco in honor/memory of Kristen Webb!! She is standing next to me in the picture and this is my second year running for her. I lost my honored hero on Aug.4 to her battle with cancer. This marathon will be a hard one but I will not stop because Kristen did not stop fighting. I know she will be with me every step of the way. I am determined to raise my $3250 by Oct. 10 despite the challenges these last few months have brought. She has my back and I know it now more than ever.

All of us apart of Team In Training work to raise funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. 75% of this commitment goes directly to patient support and research. For any amount I raise over my goal, 100% goes to patient support and research. ALL DONATIONS ARE 100% TAX DEDUCTIBLE!

Here are a few ways your donation can help!

• A donation of $25 provides patients and their loved ones with FREE booklets that contain up to date information on their disease and help them make informed decisions about their treatment options.
• A donation of $50 provides a Family Support group with a trained facilitator where comfort can be found and feelings can be shared with patients and family members.
• A donation of $100 helps supply laboratory researchers with supplies and materials critical to carrying out their search for cures.
• A donation of $500 could provide patient aid to a person with Leukemia or a related cancer for a year.
• A donation of $1000 makes a one-on-one conversation possible with health care specialists who provide patients with information about their disease, treatment options, and helps prepare them with questions for their health care Team!

I am raising this money for every individual fighting cancer because my mom is a cancer survivor and I have lost my grandparents to cancer as well as other family members and friends. I will say that Kristen is super special to me as she was a wonderful person and friend to be around. She was so strong and my hero! Cancer patients go through so much but if you knew Kristen you wouldn't know that. She was a phenomenal woman that inspired me to fight, love and live daily!! She keeps me going!! Kristen never gave up and never complained. To know her is to love her! My friend still lives in my heart daily. I will try to make you as proud of me as I am of you sis!! KWebb will see me run or crawl across that finish line (one way or the other I’m finishing) LOL !! Every time I think my legs hurt or I am too tired to train, I just think of her and know WE got this! Love you Sis and I know you got my back!!
