Running for Allie
If you are checking back on this page - I finished my half marathon in 2:23 which considering the hills of San Fran, was great for me. I will follow up with a letter to all that supported me, but wanted you to know it was an incredible experience.
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
I am running in memory of Allie my sweet granddaughter and in honor of my dear friend Joe. This fight to cure leukemia is important to me. Losing Allie before she was 9 months old continues to be a "life changing" time for me. From the moment she was diagnosed, I decided to honor Allie everyday. I also want to honor Joe. Joe was diagnosed with Lymphoma this year. Joe is so positive he will beat this disease, all of us around him feel the same way. Joe has just completed all of his chemo treatments and has received word that he is in remission. I am running for all children and adults suffering from blood cancer. Too many are losing the battle and we must find a cure. If you doubt the benefits of your donation, please know that when Allie passed away in 2004, she was one of 7 people to lose their battle within the same hour. Today, only 6 people lose the battle each hour, meaning 1 more person is surviving every hour and this is only because of the research allowed by your generous donation.
I have joined Team in Training, a nationwide effort to raise money and awareness to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I am training to run Nike's Womens Half Marathon in San Francisco on October 19, 2008. I must raise $3,900 to participate in this event.
If you would like to join me and the many others who are raising funds for research, please donate to this site or mail your contribution to me at my address - 2520 Wabash Ave., Fort Worth, Texas 76109.
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission. NO DONATION IS TOO GREAT OR TOO SMALL, every contribution gets us closer to finding a cure.
I hope you will visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support! Allie's Nana
