Racing to Save Lives
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
I'm training to participate in the Lonestar Quarter Ironman in Galveston, TX on April 5th, 2009 as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. For those who know me, I am no "Ironman," but I hope to be at least a quarter of one come April 5th. A quarter Ironman is similar to an Olympic triathlon and the one in Galveston's Moody Gardens begins with a .6 mile open water swim in Offat’s Bayou followed by a 28 mile bike ride and finishes with a 6.5 mile run. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of my neighbor, Gary Ricks, who was recently diagnosed with Hodgkins lymphoma. You can read more about Gary and his heroic journey here. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission.
I hope you will visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Also, here is a link to my personal training log:
