Pedaling for a Cure

This has been an exciting year for me! Because you do MAKE A DIFFERENCE our chapter has raised 1.5 million dollars this fiscal year. We are on track to meet our goal of 3.5 million dollars for the year for the North Texas Chapter. Through your generosity, I have had the privilege of completing 27 fundraising events with Team in Training over the last ten years. With the completion of Goofy in January, it will be 28 events! We think this is a national record.

This past season, we had a very unexpected honored hero that was very close to us. Two weeks before the season kicked off, our new cycling coach was having a routine physical examination when his physician noted that his blood count numbers were slightly off and there was "something" on the routine chest x-ray. He was subsequently diagnosed with Stage 4 (that means that it had already spread) lymphoma. He stepped down from his inaugural coaching season but continued to train and fundraise with us. He completed the 108 mile bike ride three days before his last chemotherapy. He is and was truly an inspiration to all of us on the team. He's already planning his next event with TNT!!

It is my goal to raise $4,400 for our next cycling event. We are going to Tahoe. It IS America's Most Beautiful Bike Ride and there is always a sea of purple and green Team in Training jerseys from all across the nation. Each jersey represents a warrior fighting against blood cancers, raising funds for research and patient services and pedaling one stroke at a time to help find a cure.
