Racing to Save Lives
Dear Friends and Family,
On December 13, 2009 I will be walking/running the Dallas White Rock Marathon. Since this is my first race, I will be running half the marathon. While running 13.1 miles will be a personal challenge, there is a bigger reason for which I have committed to this race. I am running with Team in Training to raise money for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society fight against devastating diseases. Blood cancers take over 50,000 lives every year with more deaths than any other cancer among children.
I will be running in memory of Joy Crawford. Aunt Joy went to be with the Lord after a 15 month battle with Lymphoma. For those of you who remember Aunt Joy, she was an avid runner and would likely be cheering me on if she were here today.
I set a goal to raise $2,000 to help fund The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society research into finding a cure for lymphoma and blood-related cancers. Each donation helps accelerate finding a cure for leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma. More than 823,000 Americans are battling these blood cancers. I am hoping that my participation in Team In Training will help bring them hope and support.
Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world. It is the only thing that ever has. - Margaret Mead
Thank you for making a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission.
I hope you will visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support!
Sincerely,
Karen and Michael Liggett
