Racing to Save Lives
Dear Family and Friends,
I have very special news to share with you, so please let me take this opportunity to tell you about the exciting new challenge in my life. I am currently training for the Dallas Marathon on December 14th 2008 as a member of the North Texas Team in Training Program on behalf of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Let me explain to you why I have chosen to make this commitment and then you will understand why I am so excited and determined to finish this marathon.
Every five minutes someone is diagnosed and every ten minutes someone dies from a blood cancer. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is dedicated to funding blood cancer research and providing education and patient services. Team in Training participants nationally have raised more than $750 million to support these efforts. The enormous success of this program has helped make possible advances in blood cancer therapies that have prolonged and enhanced the lives of hundreds of thousands of patients.
As some of you may know, my father battled Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma for several years and unfortunately lost that fight in May of 1995. I hope to make him proud by completing this marathon and raising money for the society, so that someday there will be a cure for these awful diseases.
I hope you will join me on this journey by making a donation to my campaign. No Donation is too small and all contributions are tax deductible. Thank you so much.
Sincerely yours,
Becky Zona
