September 20th Update: On the training side, it has been tough! I strained my right hamstring last Sunday and I’ve had to take the past week off to let it heal. For someone like me, that’s almost the hardest thing in the world! That pretty much sidelines my fast finish time goal for the Columbus Marathon and I’m going to have to settle for making sure I just finish the race at a comfortable pace so my hamstring holds up. That lets me still be able to run the RWS Double Marathon two weeks later. So, just to finish 26.2 miles and then another 52.4 miles, on a funky hamstring, that’s the new goal!
I’ve added to my Honoree list…there are 117 names. I’ve added quite a few including friend Kathy Strick’s father, Richard Murnen, who fought Lymphoma for four years. Thanks for letting me run for him Kathy! For Kathy and her father and so many like them, to give them a chance at a little more time together or better yet, a cure, is why I run.

Welcome!
This year, I'm training to participate in the Columbus Marathon on October 17th as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. I hope to run my fastest marathon time ever and do it in under 3 hours 17 minutes. Along with that challenge, I'll next be running a double marathon on October 31st near Cleveland! That's right, over 52 miles non-stop and just two weeks later!
This is my personal challenge to support the fight against cancer and I hope you can help me on this mission. The support and encouragement from friends and family help me get through the long training miles to be ready on race day. For the next few months, I'll be averaging more than 50 miles a week which makes for some very long miles and some very long days! Any support you can give is greatly appreciated!
Last year, I ran for 105 Honorees and raised $5,648 to support the cause. You may remember our team Honoree, Nataleigh. It's because of great programs like this one that Nataleigh is now cancer free! This year, I hope to run for all of our Honorees again, add to our Honoree list, and exceed last year's fundraising amount. It's our Honorees who are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
Please consider making a donation to support the cause and find a cure for cancer.
Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress.
Thanks so much!
Ernie
