My Quest - Complete 7 Endurance Events - 104.8 Miles of Running - 1 Mission: Help Find a Cure!

Racing to Save Lives - Thank You For Your Support


The picture above was on January 7, 2007, when I ran my first Marathon for Team In Training - along with my sisters Angela & Dorothy, and brother Roger. We ran this race to honor our mother, Lina Dumadag, who was diagnosed with cancer in December 2005. Just 2 weeks after completing that 26.2 mile race, our mom passed away from cancer.


But witnessing her 4 adult children - cross that finish line together - was the probably GREATEST gift - we could have given her. We firmly believe that vision of us - helped motivate her to fight the cancer for so long.


Just the other day, I discovered my neighbor Glen Cortese was diganosed with cancer. As a result, I have decided to join Team In Training - again; and, will also dedicate the New Jersey 26.2 mile Marathon and 6 additional Half Marathons to honor him as well.


It is my intention to run these 7 endurance events - not only to pay tribute to my mother and my neighbor - but, to honor ALL individuals who have been diagnosed with cancer - for their courage in battling this dreaded disease. I hope to accomplish this by wearing their names on a ribbon during the race; and, by raising money for cancer research.

If my efforts to honor my mother and neighbor can be extended to other cancer challenged individuals; and, if it brightens their day...puts a smile on their face - or gives them hope...then, I truly believe - in my own small way - I am doing God's work.

This challenge will consist of 2 of hardest things I will have ever done in my entire life: One - to train and complete these 7 endurance events; and, two, to fund raise & ask people to donate money - for a worthy cause. But, that is nothing compared to the what my mom , uncles and neighbor had to endure with chemotherapy treatments while battling cancer.
