The 102-mile bicycle ride happens next Saturday, September 22, in Las Vegas, NV. It's been a long haul, getting here. I've lost one bike, about 6 pounds, and a few too-pessimistic beliefs about my own limitations. We've raised almost $4000 together, exceeding my fundraising goal, and I've gone from being able to ride 24 miles, so long as there was a breakfast stop halfway, to being able to ride 50 without much trouble, and 75 if I worked at it. We'll see next week if I have met my goal of being able to ride 102 miles.

The more important goal, of course, remains elusive, and the pursuit of treatments and cures for blood cancers continues.

Some who would have died five or ten years ago are now survivors, thanks to the previous work of LLS and its community of fundraisers and donors. Great strides have been made, and the line in the battle against blood cancers continues to be pushed back. Let's make sure that we can say that again in another five or ten years.
