We are already registering for the Fall Season - Good news is that the ride is actually here in Albuquerque - The Day of the Tread - October 24. Training will start on June 19. Think about visiting for the event.
5/29 - Today we officially finished our training. The team rode out to Bernalillo for breakfast at the Range and back for a ride of about 20 miles. We all met at the LLS office and packed our bikes for the pick-up on June 2. Next update will be after we return home on June 7.
5/17 - On May 28, Rita has a body scan to see how well she has responded to the stem cell transplants. Keep positive thoughts for her. Yesterday the team used the Santa Fe Century as our training ride. We finished 82 miles. We have one more long ride before Lake Tahoe.
5/10 - Hard to believe that there are only three more training rides before heading to Lake Tahoe. This past weekend was incredibly windy so our training was cancelled.
4/17 - The infection is gone, antibiotics have stopped and the doctor has given Rita the OK to eat a salad. Being allowed to eat a salad does not sound like a major milestone for most of us but because lymphoma patients' immune systems aren’t strong enough to fight off bacteria, patients are often instructed not to eat any raw fruits or vegetables. Today was a flat ride for us - 61 miles - beautiful weather.
3/31 - Rita spent the last week in the hospital due to an infection. She is scheduled to go home today and I know that she is looking forward to being at home with Billy and Shadow and sleeping in her own bed. Our ride this past weekend was moved to Sunday because of bad weather on Saturday. However, Sunday was pretty cold at start time and typical of the spring in the desert, very windy. We pedaled for 47 miles although it seemed like at least 60 - hills and wind - not a good combination.
3/20 - This has been an amazing week. First, I just got off the phone with Rita and she sounded strong but still a bit tired. She always seems to have such a great attitude and I think of her often when I am climbing a hill ( have I mentioned that hills and I just don't get along ). Second, although the numbers now showing on this page do not reflect it, I surpassed my fundraising goal thanks to everyone who has been so generous and supportive. Since it snowed yesterday, our training ride was postponed to today – 46 miles.
