Running to Save Lives

***UPDATE 10/18/09 - We did it ! Team in Training rocks! My buddies and I ran today in the Duke City half marathon. My time was decent - 2 hours 15 minutes. But the real finish line is a cure for Leukemia and other blood cancers. You can still donate securely right here on this site. Any amount is appreciated!***

The first time I did this...well, honestly, I had my doubts.

But people supported me, I got great training - and I did it - ran a half marathon in 2006 (San Diego). Then I did the FULL marathon (yes, all 26.2 grueling miles) in Phoenix is January 2007.

I did it again - trained to participate in another endurance event - the Duke City Half Marathon - as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives.

I did it in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. But I especially ran in memory of Joe Yerka, brother to one of my best friends from High School. He lost his battle to Leukemia earlier this year. Someday there will be a cure and our loved ones won't die from these blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
