I have an amazingly talented friend who has started to make jewelry and selling same under the name Blinged Out Insomniac.
She has been generous enough to make a limited supply of "Awareness Bracelets" that all feature a sterling silver awareness ribbon (so they can represent for any cancer... not just blood cancers). The are $25.00, which includes shipping costs.
Check out the available choices at Blinged Out Insomniac - Cancer Awareness Bracelets.
If you see something you like, tag it as yous, make your $25.00 here on my page and when I get the confirmation, she will ship it out to you! What could be simpler than that? :)
Thank you for your support!
~Wendy
GO TEAM!
I had the pleasure of attending the summer season Kickoff at the Woodbridge Hilton on Saturday, February 4th.
It was great to hear from our honored participants and hear their stories. It always brings a tear to my eye to hear how these people have persevered!
I was also able to meet some of my local Bergen County participants, and I'm looking forward to getting into gear with the training schedule and getting to know my teammates better on Saturday mornings!
After kickoff, I headed up to the A&P in Midland Park, NJ to do some "canning." I was there for 3 1/2 hours and was able to raise approximately $130.00. WOOT!
So... keep checking back to see how I'm doing... and don't forget to DONATE! And send your friends and family on over to donate as well!
Thanks... and GO TEAM!
I have another Honored Hero to add to my list.
Mark Jeremy Cox... beloved husband, father, son, brother, in-law...
I didn't know him personally, but learned of him via a Facebook friend.
He lost his battle on January 24, 2012.
My heart breaks for his family, and adding him to my list of Honored Heros is the least I can do to help spread his legacy.
I'm so excited to announce my first fundraising event!
I will be outside the A&P located at 137 Lake Avenue, Midland Park, NJ on Saturday, February 4 and Sunday, February 5 - Super Bowl Weekend!
Please feel free to come out and offer your support... both moral and financial!
GO TEAM!
Teams are made up of individuals. Without them, there is no team.
My name is Wendy Nystrom and I want to welcome you to my Team In Training home page!
I have a mission - to help find cures and more effective treatments for blood cancers. To accomplish that mission, I’m participating in a sports endurance event as a member of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Team In Training. Like the other members of TNT, I will be raising funds to help find cures and better treatments for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma. I’m improving the quality of my life by participating and with your support, I can help improve the quality of life for patients and their families as well.
Let me give you a little background as to WHY I'm doing this. My grandfather - George Baker - was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma when I was a child. I don't recall the specifics, but I can recall driving into NYC with my mother and grandparents to take him to his treatments, and I can recall some of the issues/side effects he had as a result thereof. He went into remission for about 15 years. Unfortunately, it came back, and on Good Friday (March 28) 1986 he lost his battle. My grandfather was one of the greatest men I have ever known and he will always be in my heart.
Fast forward… in September 2008, I found enlarged lymph nodes in my groin. I panicked; I do have a family history, after all. I called the doctor, tests were done. There were enlarged nodes in my groin and armpits, but the doctors didn’t think that they warranted any further testing. We kept an eye on them, they receded and my fears settled.
About 2 months later, however, my brother – Ed – was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. It was devastating news for a self-employed father of 3 whose wife didn’t work outside the home. On the bright side, however, Hodgkin’s Lymphoma is one of the most treatable cancers you can get. Once he received his diagnosis, a treatment plan was laid out. Ultimately, he ended up having a stem cell transplant and, thank the Lord, he’s been pretty much healthy ever since.
As you can see, my family has definitely been touched by Lymphoma. I am so grateful that my brother had the options available to him that he did. Because, I’m sure, of the work that LLS has been able to fund, he is back to his daily routine.
So, I want to do what I can to help other families that have been touched by Lymphoma… or Leukemia, or any other blood cancer. In the grand scheme of things, I’m just one person, but with Team in Training and LLS, I can help make a difference… but only with YOUR help.
Please make a donation in support of my efforts with Team In Training and help advance the research for cures. Thank you
