Dear Supporters,
Exactly one week from today on Sunday, May 1st, I will be running the New Jersey Half-Marathon!!! I will not only be with Team In Training but will also be with family and friends as we cross that finish line together in my brother's memory, in the honor of his children and for all cancer patients and their families. As a family we have not only been brought together and healing with TNT but we have raised well over $4,500 for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society -- in less than 1 year!! We could not have done that without your support!!!
And we're not stopping on May 1st either! We already have two summer events planned - one is August 28th Tobay Triathlon on Long Island and then September 11th Nations Triathlon in DC. If you would like to join "Team Callahan" please let me know as we would love to complete an event with you. To continue to follow and support Team Callahan's events, please visit my sister-in-law's website for summer events http://pages.teamintraining.org/li/nattri11/kcallah1ne
My brother Billy would have loved to see all of this and without him none of this would have even happened. He has changed my life for the better and on behalf of his family, I thank you. The support you have given during these 6 months of training and fundraising has been absolutely heartwarming. I will never forget it and I am extremely grateful.
Here's to crossing that finish line on Sunday and to finding a cure for cancer!!!!!!!!
With Love,
Rebecca

I’m running for a cure!
I am training to participate in a half-marathon on May 1, 2011 as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. I joined TNT in my Brother Billy's name and in the honor of his children Jennifer, Ryan & Blake. On September 27th, 2010, sadly Billy lost his battle with Leukemia. He was 55 years old.
“Runs for Billy" has become a family cause with loved ones joining in. My brother Marty will also be running the marathon on May 1 and my husband and friends are crossing Finish lines with me during training runs. My sister-in-law Kathy and my nephew Christopher have already completed an event and working on starting another one. "It's a life changing experience" she said and she was right. With my Team In Training we are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families. A cure for leukemia would be a giant step forward, since leukemia research is considered to be the window to the treatment and cure for other cancers and AIDS.
I would be very grateful for your support through a donation from either yourself or your business. Your business could be added as a sponsor and promoted throughout this mission. Your contribution is tax-deductible—and any amount will bring the Society one step closer to finding a cure, so others will not have to suffer with the pain and discomfort of blood cancers. You can donate cash, check or by using your credit card right on this page.
If you choose, feel free to give me the name of someone you would like me to run in honor/memory of. Their names will be printed on this page and when I need inspiration, I will look to their names and remember the cause--the Team’s running paths are lined with the angels of the ones we have lost and never forget.
If you would like to join in any “Runs for Billy”, please let me know! I am honored to be part of the TNT experience and would love to share it with you.
Thank you so much for your support.
Love,
Rebecca

WHAT is Team in Training? Check out this video
Since its inception in 1988, when a team of 38 runners trained together for the New
York City Marathon and raised $320,000, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team
In Training® program (TNT), has prepared more than 390,000 people—approximately 40,000 participants annually— to achieve their dream of completing a marathon, half marathon, triathlon, 100-mile (century) bicycle ride or hike adventure. And, in that time, TNT participants have raised over $950 million to support blood cancer research and
patient services. The enormous success of this program has helped make possible
advances in blood cancer therapies and treatments that have prolonged and enhanced the lives of hundreds of thousands of patients.
