Racing to Save Lifes!

Welcome to my Team in Training home page. This year I will be running to celebrate Yury Gelman, who right now is in remission. Last year as I ran, Yury was at Sloan in the midst of a treatment for lymphoma. The result is complete remission!

Yury Gelman is the National Men’s Sabre Coach, a three time Olympic Coach for the US (Syndey, Atlanta and Beijing), and Head Fencing Coach for the NCAA Champion St. John’s University (01). Yury is a member of the US Fencing Hall of Fame (inducted summer of 2010). Yury is the honor coach of Ukraine. Many of you know that Yury is our daughter, Samantha Roberts’, coach. He starts each day with optimism and is an inspiration to many.

Why would I do this again this year? Simple to make sure that the fight to cure Leukemia and lymphoma continues. Due to research funded by LLS, Yury is in remission. Seventy six percent (76%) of all the money raised goes into research. No other organization has this high a rate. Many of you know just how important this type of funded research is.

Yes I will be doing my second Nike San Francisco Women’s Marathon on October 17th as a member of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Team in Training. All of us are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. Running with TNT was an amazing experience. Meeting the honorees was humbling!
