Racing to Save Lives

Welcome to my Team In Training home page.

I'm training to participate in an endurance event as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. By 'endurance event' I mean 'sixty miles on a bicycle through Morris County, NJ'. For those of you not familiar with the state of New Jersey, this is a green, suburban-to-rural area with parkland and farm country. It's lovely territory, a far cry from the national reputation of New Jersey as a state covered in city.

It's also bumpy. I live in a coastal area where the worst local hills are basically street overpasses. The Gran Fondo is through seriously hilly territory, at least by the standards of a state without mountains. I've done long rides before, but they were through flat country, and pretty easy as a result.

Cancer, however, isn't easy. Not for the folks who've got it, not for the folks who're treating it, not for the people who're living with people who've got it. I don't get to do easy if they don't.

That's why all of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I'm completing this event in honor of everyone, especially a recently-diagnosed dear friend of mine, who's battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
