Less then two weeks to go!
In less then 2 weeks I will be heading to Disney for the half marathon. I'm so excited and can't wait to see Mickey! This experience for me has definately been an adventure so far, with only 2 weeks to go the fun keeps on coming! On Feb 24th (the night before I leave), I'm hosting an event @ Roxy and Dukes in Dunellen, NJ. Come listen to some great music and have some fun with me! Why did I get involved?
I have come to a point in my life where I can finally appreciate all of the wonderful opportunities that have come my way and all of the wonderful people that support me through my daily struggles. Looking back on the past few years, I realized that there was something missing. I realized that I haven't been spending nearly enough time giving back.
Some facts and figures
*The LLS mission: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. LLS funds lifesaving blood cancer research around the world and provides free information and support services
* Over 950,000 Americans currently are living with Leukemia, Lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease, or myeloma
* Every four minutes, someone is newly diagnosed with a blood cancer. Every 10 minutes, someone dies
I have agreed to participate in a half marathon as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
No donation is too smalI - every little bit will help me reach my goal of $3,500. My race will be on Feb 27, 2011 and I'm really excited! If a financial contribution is too much for you right now, you can still help my cause by sharing my link and information with your network of friends, familiy, and co-workers. Just think....I have 259 facebook friends, If everyone gave $10 - I would be over 75% of the way to my goal!
