Racing to Save Lives
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
I'm training to participate in the Rock and Roll San Diego Marathon and 1/2 as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team in Training. All of us on Team in Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this even in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line- a cure!
Besides improving the quality of life of patients and their families I am also striving to improve the quality of my life by loosing pounds and getting into overall good shape. I also find this a great opportunity to connect with new people and travel, all while supporting a good cause.
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission.

The coundown is on! A little over 2 weeks till the big race day and fundraising is down to the wire. At this point I have 45% of my goal left to fundraise. It's not too late to help save a life. Actually it's never to late. I have heard so many touching stories over the past few months and each and every one of them deserves...NEEDS....a cure. Please help them. As for my training, I'm doing pretty well. I've made it up to 9 miles with no major aches and pains. Some swelling of the knees but after all it is 9 miles! I'm excited to bust out 13.1 and cross that finish line. No people sweeper for me. :P

What an awesome weekend. Saturday, Jess Cumbie Photography invited me to assist in a wedding. My pay will be donated to LLS! Sunday, was Rock to Cure Leukemia benefit concert at Box Seats. I am overwhelmed with the response. The food, drinks and people were all so great. AND the bands....Amazing. Big props to SKEWD and HELENBAK and of course Simone at Box Seats. I couldn't have done it without you. We raised $348.50! Not to shabby for a Sunday night. Thanks!

3 months ago I would have laughed if you asked me to do a marathon. 2 months ago my friends and family laughed when I told them I was going to train for a marathon. This pass weekend I am laughing again. This time because I completed my first 15K at the Gate River Run. I'm not fast and it wasn't easy my no means. But I did it! Now I will continue to challenge myself to improve my pace so I can laugh again when I finish the half in San Diego. And I hope my friends and family will laugh with me in joy and support. I'm so glad I have found something that gives me a moment of peace in a hectic schedule. I have come to love walking the bridges through downtown Jacksonville. The scenery gives me the breath I need to keep going.

Last weekend was the Photography Mini Sessions with Jess Cumbie Photography. Everything went very well. We raised $380 wich brought me up to 25% of my overall goal and met my recommittment goal. Special thanks to Jess and all the wonderful people who had their pictures taken. They turned out so nice.
Training is going well. Aches and pains are to a minimum and feel confident at this point. I'll be doing the 15K at the Gate River Run on Saturday 3/13. That should get my psyched for June and it will be my very first marathon!
