Getting Longer
Sep 25, 2010 by Eyleen Schmidt

Our training sessions are getting longer and I am begining to realize just how long 26.2 miles is, yikes! However, I start to think of all the people that have taken on the marathon that is cancer treatment and all of a sudden my blisters seem so little and petty. I think that is the most motivational part of Team in Training, knowing that with every mile run, with every dollar raised, we are helping to support patients and surviors and find a cure.

Keep on Trucking
Sep 16, 2010 by Eyleen Schmidt

I promised to keep you updated on my results, this week in training I was able to break the 15 min mark walking. My ultimate goal is to get to the 12 / 13 min mile for the marathon. It will take a lot of work but I know I can do it.

On the weight front, well all this new excersizing has made me hungry, I am trying to figure out how to address my need for more fuel for that and trying to lose weight. The good news is that since I started I am 6lbs down!

I know I should be putting pictures on here of training but at 5 am when I leave the house I just don't seem to remember my name let alone my camera. I promise to remember this weekend. ( - =

It's the little things
Sep 07, 2010 by Eyleen Schmidt

I know in this time of economic craziness it may seem difficult to donate, no matter how good the cause. I just want you to take a minute to think about some of the simple changes you could make to help find a cure for cancer. Here are some simple things you can do:

1. Going to the movies? - Tickets and refreshments could easily run $30 why not Redbox it and donate the savings.

2. Heading to the club? Let those boys buy you drinks and donate the money you save. Hey you could get a date AND cure cancer in one night!

3. Heading out on those weekend errands? Brew your own coffee instead of heading to Starbucks and donate the savings.

4. Getting some wine? Skip the expensive stuff and get the ever wonderful 2 buck chuck from Trader Joes. You still get a wonderful wine and you can donate your savings.

5. Going out to dinner? Skip dessert, you get to save the calories and save a life.

Training on the road
Sep 03, 2010 by Eyleen Schmidt

Hi folks! Yes I am even training while on the road. I am in DC visiting friends and everyday I have made sure to get in my training program. I am committed to accomplishing my goal, but I can't do it without your help and donations. Please help me get to my goal by donating to my team in training page!

I will also be updating you on my fitness and weight loss goals as well. Remember I am not only doing this to help find a cure for blood cancers, but to reduce my risk for cancer, heart disease and diabetes as well.

Love to you all

Racing to Save Lives

Welcome to my Team In Training home page!

Yes it is official I am training for the Disney Marathon Weekend 2011! Over the next 5 months, I am going to be training with the wonderful people of the Team in Training organization. In return for helping me to get fit, active and complete this marathon, I have agreed to help raise at least $ 2000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Any money you give is 100% deductible and 75% of all funds raised go directly to the mission of curing blood cancers and helping those with blood cancers and their families.

I thank you for all your help and support! Check back often to see my progress both physically and towards my fundraising goal.

Love to you all!

Eyleen
