I am no longer scared of the evil sweepers getting me at Disney! I KNOW I am going to rock this, thanks to finishing the Women's Half Marathon. I kept a 15:10 pace even with stopping for water and taking time to look at all the sights and have some fun. I just have to put in my miles and make sure my stamina is there. I can't wait to rock Disney!
So since the pumpkin run, I have battled Strep throat and now my sinuses have decided to join the party. My practice 1/2 marathon is next weekend and I am excited but nervous because I haven't been able to get in as many runs being ill. I just hope that all the training I have done prior to these last weeks will pay off. My goal time is 3:15 or better, fingers crossed!
So last weekend I did 10 miles. It was crazy, my body never gave me trouble but oh my mind did. In case you didn't know, there is a VERY competitive person in me so being dead last totally messed with my mind. At one point I wanted to quit and I was almost crying, but I was 8 miles in and it just seemed silly. Here is also where being part of TnT helped, as I came around a corner, people from my team were there to cheer me on and run in that last mile with me. I was able to finish, strong and happy with what I did. I know that I may have issues at Disney with my mind, but I'll also have thousands of TnT participants and honored hereos there to help and inspire me.
Also, eeek!! only 2 weekends till my practice 1/2 marathon!
Oh my goodness, nine miles last week, ten this week and another ten next week, plus trainings. My couch potatoe behind is officially gone! Getting up and doing TnT gave me the spark I needed to change my life in many ways. I now have a new job and a new found way to relieve stress and manage my life. This experience has already been life changing and I can't wait for it to continue.
Whoot! Whoot! Finally able to break 15 min / mil. Hit 14 and 14:30 on Tuesday's and Saturday's training. Hopefully this is just the begining of getting to my goal speed!
