So it's been a while since I have updated the page with progress, but there has definitely been progress!

My swimming has made vast improvement over the last few months, I am far more comfortable in the water and it has had a noticeable impact. Coach Beth and Coach Ryan have been awesome in guiding me and pushing me to be better in the water and I can't express just how much I appreciate them being patient and supportive.

Saturday's workout was... fun. We began with a 2 mile warmup run, followed by a 20-30 mile bike and capped off with a 2 mile cooldown run. WHEW!!! I must admit, I have not been on the bike as often as I should have been this past month and my bike made me pay for it. I'm still sore! Thanks to Coach Ryan for sticking by me and pushing me during the ride and to my teammates who stuck with me during my cooldown run while I was cramping like crazy.

What a morning!!!

Why I Race

Welcome to my Team In Training home page.

I'm training to participate in an endurance event: The Nations Triathlon on September 11th, 2011 as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of my Dear Grandfather who battled Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, and all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!

We lost my Maternal Grandfather in October, 1998; he was a driving force in making me the man I am today. A family man, a sage, a teacher and a friend; "Maas Cannon" or Cannonball as friends and family knew him was always larger than life to me... the kind of man I wanted to be. He fought his six year battle with leukemia with unbelievable spirit and with the dignity of a great man. I will always carry him with me in my heart and mind and the day I cross the finish line of the Nations Triathlon will be no different.

Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission, every single dollar brings us one step closer.

I hope you will visit my web site often, I will work to keep you updated on my trials and progress. Thanks for your support!
