Team PB&J is Racing to Save Lives

Dear Friends and Family,

As many of you may have heard, I’m training to run my 1st half-marathon!! That’s right! I’ll be running 13.1 miles at The Nike Women’s Marathon October 17th, 2010 in San Francisco, CA. During these last few years, my exercise regimen has been pretty much nonexistent. So to help prepare me for this feat, I’ve joined the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Team in Training (TNT) program. With their help, I will be able to get into marathon running condition, but more importantly, I will be helping to support the fight against blood cancers like leukemia by raising $3900. That is where I need your help.

Founded in 1949, LLS is the world’s largest voluntary health organization. They’re dedicated to funding blood cancer research and providing education and patient services. They are relentless in pursuit of their mission: to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

This event is extra special to me for three important reasons.

1. I’ll be running in remembrance of young Jasmina Anema(www.oneforjasmina.com), who at just 6 years old, lost her courageous battle with leukemia, January 27th, 2010.

2. I’ll be running in honor of my TNT teammate, Ed Duerr, whose lymphoma is now in remission, thanks in part to strides made by LLS.

3. I’ll be running alongside my twin sister and best friend Shonika (we’re affectionately known to some as PB&J because we always stick together).
