Kara's Fundraising Page

1/13: To keep you more up to date on my triathlon training, I've created a blog. I'll be updating it frequently, so please check back often!
12/20: Thank you to everyone that has made donations. I didn't expect to have collected so much money this early in the game, but it makes me more confident that I'll reach my fundraising goal.
Training has been going well. I think I'm adjusting to my alarm going off at 4:30am on Tuesdays for the group swims and 8:30am on Saturdays for the group runs. Last week there was a Triathlon 101 clinic and this morning was a bike clinic. I've learned a lot of useful information to prepare me for the triathlon in May.
Please keep spreading the word about my efforts to raise money for the Society. No donation is too small and every dollar makes a difference.
Best wishes to everyone for a safe and happy holiday!
11/16: So maybe I'm just running the bases in kickball in that picture...I like to think of it as preliminary training for the running portion of the triathlon ;o)
Call me crazy, but I've decided to train for an Olympic distance triathlon. That means a .9 mile swim, followed by about a 25 mile bike ride, topped off with a 10k run. At least I'm not running 26 miles...crazy marathoners!
I'm training through a program called, Team In Training, with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Basically it works like this: crazy people like me sign up to complete a triathlon, marathon or century ride. The Society provides coaches and training schedules to help us, and in return, we raise money for the Society. If we reach the fundraising minimum, the Society will pay for us to go to and participate in the event.
A whopping 75% of your donations will go directly to the Society to fund research grants and their other support programs for those battling blood cancers.
I appreciate your support and any donation you are able to make.
