UPDATE - 9/10/09
Due to an injury I won't be able to run the marathon in October. But I'll still be participating in the Nike Women's event for this amazing charity. I'll be walking the half marathon instead. Thanks for your support!
Why I Run
On October 18, 2009 I will be running the Nike Women's Marathon. By that time I hope to have raised at least $5,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
My first personal experience with luekemia was when I was 19. I was in college and had been dating a boy for a couple months when he ended things with no explanation. A few months later I found out why. His father e-mailed to say that he had been a childhood leukemia survivor but had a relapse around the time of our break up and didn't make it.
In February of 2008 Walley Duncan, the founder of the firm I work at, passed away due to lymphoma. While I didn't know him well personally, I saw the effect that losing him had on my valued coworkers who have known him for 20 and 30 years. Sitting at a funeral surrounded by several hundred people who were so saddened at this loss I couldn't help but be touched. I wanted to do something for Walley and for those who cared so much about him and were touched by his life.
I'm running this race for Dan and Walley. I hope you will support me in my fund raising efforts to get to my goal.
Thanks to all my previous donors who unfortunately don't show up on the list to the right!
