Welcome to my Team In Training home page.

I'm training to participate in the Nike Women's Half Marathon in San Francisco on October 19th and the Marine Corps Marathon in D.C. on October 26th. I am a Team Captain for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling cancer, but especially my sister, who fought and won her battle with Hodgkins disease.

Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission.

Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support!

Well, this Saturday we did 7 miles. That was fun. I am considering doing Nike and the Marine Corps Marathon - since it might be nice to keep it local. Not 100% committed, but getting there.

Well, it looks like I am going to do the Nike Women's Half Marthon in San Francisco and the Marine Corps Marathon in DC. They are a week apart, so it is going to be hard, but I want to do both.

We ran 12 miles last week. It was a little humid - like over 80% humidity - as it has been for most of our runs. I got the most insane blister. It took up most of the bottom of my foot. It's been hard to walk on all week. But, despite that, I went out and ran 8 miles this morning. It was raining, which actually made it a lot better for running than the 90 plus degree weather we've all gotten accustomed to!

We ran 14 miles last Saturday. It was a beautiful day to jog. The weather was cool and crisp. I felt pretty good except, at around 8 miles, I hurt my ankle. That made the rest of the run kind of painful in that one spot. I have been limping all week, but I went to see Dr. Jowdy yesterday and he's getting me fixed up for the 10 miles this Friday. I have a shoot on Saturday, so Glenda and I are running Friday morning, before work. At least the trails will be empty.

Well, we did 16 miles last week. That was hard but, thank goodness, no injuries. I am gearing up for A Reason for Romance www.areasonforromance.com on September 19th. This is key because I still have a long way to go with my fundraising and that event is where I hope to make up all the remaining funds before the fundraising deadline on October 1st. We have gotten the greatest donations. Laser hair removal, cruises, dinners, golf for two, dance lessons. It's going to be a great event!

I am so appreciative of everyone who has supported me through donations and encouragement. Thank you so much.

The auction was a great success. Thank you! I ran 18 miles two weeks ago and am running 20 miles this weekend, so I am kind of not looking forward to that. Amazing how not fun it gets to be when the miles start to add up. :-)

"Jess, you have seen the effects that cancer has on so many people in your life and I know you are doing all you can to make a difference. Every step you take towards that endeavor makes me proud and I know Mom is cheering you along the way! She's smiling, clapping and can't stop raffing! Ew me me ma mon! But seriously, I know that the money raised by people like you has led to my treatment and survival from hodgkins... with more money raised hopefully we can do the same for curing non-hodgkins and leukemia. Keep runnin' Sis!"
