Thanks again for your support of my triathlon training. I have not posted regularly because I've been busy with my new job.
Training is going very well. I completed the Hagerstown Sprint Triathlon on July 24 in 1 hour 9 minutes, which was 1 minute more than my goal, but an improvement of 3 minutes over last year's time.
I continue a weekly routine of one sport per day, averaging 5 days a week. I hope to step that up as the race approaches, with the goal of peaking on September 11 at the event. Last year I did this race in 2:37 so my goal is to cut at least 7 minutes off that time for a sub-2:30 time. I figure I can do that mostly on the run by a more consistent, faster pace throughout.
Thanks again for your support. Your gifts help find a cure and make pateints' lives better.
Thanks for your support. I raised more than $1,500 so far (some checks are still being processed). Training is going well. We met for an intense 40 minute run in Reston on Saturday and I continue to attend Thursday morning swim practice at 5:20 am each week in addition to runs and bikes on my own. On Sunday morning, I biked 18 miles downtown and volunteered at the DC Tri where I saw several friends race.
The sacrifice involved in waking up early to train is tiny compared to what cancer victims face each day. Please consider a gift if you haven't given yet. Thanks!
This week was inconsistent with training because I started a new job and tried to find a new routine. However, I was able to do a great swim workout with the team on Thursday and a nice 40-minute run with everyone on Saturday morning. I also squeezed in an early morning ride this week, so training is coming along. My goal is to increase frequency and intensity in the next few weeks as we move closer to the race. Thanks for your support.
Training is well underway for the Nation's Triathlon. Last week, I finished the Virginia Run Sprint Triathlon in 1 hour, 9 minutes, and 32 seconds. Now it's time to ramp up the distances and create more endurance for the olympic distance race in September. Please consider a gift. Thanks!
Welcome to Roger Custer's Team In Training Home Page.
I'm training to participate in the Nation's Triathlon as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives.
I am completing this event in honor of my friend Josh's mother, Dinah Deye, who lost her battle with leukemia recently, as well as all of those who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
Please make a tax-deductible donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission.
Please be sure to check back to see my progress. Thanks for your support!
