Racing to Save Lives
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
Thank you to everyone who has helped me surpass my fundraising goal and congrats to all of my teammates who recently completed their first half or full marathon!
Over the last few months, my teammates and I committed to early Saturday runs and the snow and rain couldn't get in the way of our training and mission. Our chapter has raised more than $300,000 this season to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives.
Team In Training trained me for my first marathon (Disney World in January 2008) and got me addicted to running and the cause. After four marathons (Disney World, Philadelphia, San Diego and NYC), I joined the National Capital Chapter this season as a mentor.
I ran the National half marathon with the team last weekend and am looking forward to running the Pittsburgh marathon on May 2, 2010 in honor of my grandfather, my 'Pap,' Arnold 'Skip' Jester, one day before what would have been his 87th birthday. Although, he would have probably thought running for 4+ hours was a crazy idea, that's nothing in comparison to the constant courage he embodied.
In addition to my personal connection and race goals, the DC team is running for Sarah Tran, our honored teammate. At 28-years-old, Sarah was a busy law student, mother and wife, when she was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). Now, following a bone marrow transplant and the support of the LLS, Sarah is a survivor.
We need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission.
Happy Running,
Brittany
