Here is a link to the route we will be running for this year's Marine Corps Marathon. I have run several segments of this route before, but never in the same week, let alone the same day!
It'll be fun to lace the segments all together. Check it out!
Today's Leukemia and Lymphoma Society #LLS Team in Training #TNT run was a ton of fun. I met up with Teammate Dana Bender at Fletcher's Boat House off of Canal Street, and we ran the Capitol Crescent Trail past Georgetown, the Waterfront, and Lincoln Memorial to the Memorial Bridge, and back. I wore my purple TNT shirt, and two people stopped me. One is the mother of a 3-year old with Lymphoma, and she was so grateful for the LLS! The other was a cancer patient who is having surgery in a week. I told her my story and offered her some encouragement. The weather and the company for today's run: delightful. The training benefit: good. The feeling that we are getting closer to a cure for cancer? PRICELESS!
Hello, friends and family! Happy FRIDAY!
Please help me celebrate a special day--I've been in remission for 2 years as of Aug 2, 2013! It's my rebirthday!
While I am very fortunate to have made it this far, I am mindful of those who lost their battle (such as my friend Jim and several family members), those whose cancer fight is still underway (such as my brother Todd and several friends), and those who will soon hear that stunning diagnosis for the first time.
When I was diagnosed in 2008, I was fortunate to have early detection, great doctors, and modern facilities on my side. Everyone is not so lucky.
Cancer is the #2 killer in this country, right after heart disease. Funds are needed for research, education, detection, treatment, and care. Please join me and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in the important effort to prevent and ultimately cure this dreaded disease.
The marathon is less than 90 days away (86 if you are counting). I am so grateful to all who have donated or pledged to donate so far. THANK YOU! If you have not contributed yet, a small donation to LLS would make a wonderful REBIRTHDAY present!
