Hello friends!
Please make sure to visit my blog http://keepingupwithandrea.blogspot.com for the most up to date information about my training... race day is almost here... only 5 days 11 hours and 24 minutes remain until I cross that start line! :-O
Welcome to my Team In Training home page!
I'm training to participate in the Marine Corps Marathon as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event to assist all individuals who are battling blood cancers, but there is one I am honoring in particular... my late younger brother Christopher
.
Christopher was diagnosed with non-hodgkins lymphoma while he was in the 7th grade and I was in the 9th. He battled the disease twice, making it to a period of remission (just in time for the holiday season) before it metastasized to his spinal fluid and into his brain. This final blow caused blindness in the last days of his life before he finally succumbed to the disease. This was in 1996. I cannot help but wonder were he fighting the same fight today, if he would prevail. I don't want any other current or future patient to have these same thoughts. They deserve the best treatment available, and that is why I am asking for your help to raise money for this cause.
This marathon is going to be a huge undertaking for me. Yes, I've run a few 13.1 half marathons by now, but the thought of DOUBLING that distance makes my poor feet scream in fear! I couldn't think of any better combination to help get me through the obstacles of this training than to try my best to fundraise for a cause that I feel is just and for a person that is still so very dear to my heart.
Please make a donation to support my participation with Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission.
I hope you will visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. You may also check out my BLOG for training updates and anecdotes. Thank you so much for your support! It means to the world to me!
Sincerely,
Andrea
