Welcome to Team iN Training!

I am training to run the Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) in Washington, DC as a member of the National Capital Area’s Team iN Training (TNT) to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society! We're working together to find a cure for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, and myeloma, and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families. There are currently more than 747,000 Americans living with blood cancer and every ten minutes a life is claimed. Leukemia is one of the leading causes of death in children between the ages of 1 and 15. The good news is that the survival rate has risen from 4% in 1960 to 81% in the last decade. This is in part due to the funds that TNT has raised to aid researchers in their fight to find cures for these diseases.

Here is what your 100% tax-deductible donation means to patients with blood cancer:

• $5, $10, or $25 helps provide patients and their loved ones with the most up-to-date information about their disease so they can make informed decisions about treatment.
• $50 pays for a family support group session with a trained facilitator where patients and families can find comfort and can share experiences.
• $100 helps provide laboratory researchers with the supplies necessary for them to carry out the search for cures.
• $550 supports a full day of research in a lab -- moving us one day closer to a cure!
• $1,000 makes possible one-on-one conversations with health care specialists who provide patients with information about their disease, treatment options, and helps prepare them with questions for their health care team.

• My daughter, Lynne, and my wife, Alisa, in the hope that I will continue to be a healthy and fit father and husband;
• Lola Usack, one of the kindest, gentlest, and wisest of friends who died of a lymphoma in 2005; and
• Bob Hatfield, a lymphoma survivor, Alisa's surrogate dad, a rabid Boston Celtics and Red Sox fan, and a great friend.
