Marine Corps Marathon 2008 Racing to Save Lives, One Mile at a Time.
** UPDATE 8/28/2008** Thanks you all so much for your generous support. I can't thank you all enough. Your generosity has really motivated me to train even harder. Thanks also to all that helped to make the fundraisers a HUGE success!
My training is on track, and I'm in much better shape/ready compared to last year's effort. I have a half marathon as a test test Labor day weekend, and the full Marathon is only 8 weeks away! **
Last year, I completed the Marine Corps Marathon in 3h 21min (that's me struggling mightily at Mile 22 in the picture). It was a long summer and quite the difficult task, as I battled the heat as well as training injuries. I wasn't sure when I'd do another marathon, but now I'm more motivated than ever!
This year, I'm training as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives.
My mission this year is two fold: 1) Raise money for an outstanding cause and complete the race in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. 2) Use this extra motivation to improve upon my finish last year, and join the elite group of racers that qualifies for the Boston Marathon (finish time goal: 3h 10min)
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission. There is no donation that is too small, and all donations are tax-deductible!
I'll be keeping a training and results blog, so feel free to visit often and check up on me:
Thanks for your support!

| "This is really cool! I am sure you will meet your goal and also raise lots of money for a good cause. I can't imagine running a marathon distance. I ran 10 miles once many years ago (Cherry Blossom race) and that was more than enough for me. Dave" | |
