In memory of HECTOR P. (JACK) DOWD
Thanks to your contributions, we have the third highest fundraising total.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As a cancer survivor myself and member of “Team In Training” of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, I ran The Marine Corps Marathon in honor of Uncle Hector who died of leukemia February 23rd. Pictured above is my dad, me, my cousin Andre and Uncle Hector.
LLS Team In Training is raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. Those lost to these diseases and those currently battling blood cancers are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
Your donations have helped advance LLS's mission and inspired me to complete my participation in Team In Training running the marathon in just under 4 hours.
Uncle Hector often ran at the Aerobics Center in Dallas and his memory inspired me to train for the 26.2 mile event in Washington, DC.
To donate securely on-line, click on the DONATE NOW tab to the left of this page. If you would prefer to send a check, please make it payable to LLS and mail it to me at: 60 Grange Ave, Fair Haven, NJ 07704
Thanks for your support!
Bridget Dowd
COMMENTS from friends & family who mailed donations:
Dear Bridget from your IRISH COUSINS,
We all saw you finish the marathon on the computer and enjoyed your great achievement. On top of your other commitments and former health challenges, what a triumph! Thank you for the personal effort you put into such a worthy cause.
WELL DONE from Hector Dowds in Ireland.
Dear Bridget,
Words cannot describe what you have done in honor of my dad. I am so grateful to have such a supporting and caring family. It's not easy to move on but I'm occupied with Division I college tennis and loads of course work that I know would make him proud.
26 miles is not an easy race! Your will power and determination motivates others especially considering the obstacles you faced.
I love you very much and I'm always here for you. Give my best to Uncle Charlie, Aunt Susan and the rest of the clan.
Love,
Andre Dowd
Dear Hedda, Charlie, Susan, Bridget and Dowd Family,
Velma and I were very saddened to hear about Jack's passing. I remember his generosity and friendship during the formative years of our business. The entire Dowd Family was a very important inspiration to me. Sincerely Yours,
