Racing to Save Lives
Yes, this spring I am taking classes full time towards a Master's Degree in Education, working for DC Teaching Fellows, and completing 350 hours of an internship in a special education classroom, but in addition to that I'm also training to participate in the Country Music Marathon, in Nashville with six of my friends as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. As many of you know, this cause is extremely important to my family and me. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling leukemia and in memory of those individuals who we've lost. We need your support to cross the ultimate finish line-a cure!
We all have causes that are of great value to us and finding a cure for leukemia is something I have valued for over 15 years now. If you would like to make a donation towards this cause, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks to everyone who made a donation already! Your support truly means so much and I really appreciate your generosity to me and to the cause. I am thrilled to report that you all have helped me raise over $3,000 now, so THANK YOU ALL!!!!
So just for a quick update, on March 14th, Brian and I ran 18 miles together and felt great! On March 21st, I jumped in for part of the Suntrust National DC Marathon to support some friends. I loved being a part of the marathon scene and I am really getting pumped for Nashville! On April 4th, I survived running 20 miles. It was by far the most challenging run because I was not feeling too well and the course was very boring, but after 3 1/2 hours, we did it! So the marathon is less than 2 weeks away and yes, I am feeling very nervous-excited. Currently, I am tapering (which has been great!) and running no more than 6 miles, so by the 25th, I will be good to go! Again, thanks to all of your support, I feel inspired and excited for the challenges that lie ahead.
I hope you will visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. You can also check out our blog for some laughs and to track our progress at:
