Saving Lives With Every Step!
Welcome to my Team In Training (TNT) home page!
Here I am pictured with our awesome TNT Coordinator, Gwen.

Many of you know how important TNT and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society are to me, and in how many ways they have touched and changed my life. I started working with TNT in 2001 when I signed up for my first full marathon. Now, I'm on my third event as a participant and my second season as a Walk and Run/Walk Coach. It excites me that I am not only walking to save lives, but I am helping others accomplish their dreams as well. The best news? We're all helping to save lives with every step we take. Because, after all, it's not really about the walk.
It's about the money we raise to help fund critical research and to help patients and their families who are living with one of the devastating forms of blood cancer:
leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma.
You can help advance the society's mission & my efforts today by making a donation - no matter how big or small, you will affect a life! I am training for this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers, including a few very important people to me (see below). These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
1) Buck - Buck Ranson is our very special 3 year old Honor Hero this season. Buck was diagnosed 18 months ago with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL). He's finished the first 1½ years of very intense treatment and now has a survival rate of 80%-90%. He's currently in the maintenance phase of his treatment for the next 2 ½ years.

2) Aunt Barb - My strong & beautiful Aunt Barb lost her battle to Lymphoma in 2005.
3) Juli - Our dear friend Juli was diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML), subtype M2, in July 2003 and has passed her 5-year remission mark! She has since completed her own marathons with TNT!

4) Lindsay - Lindsay Templeton was our Honor Hero two seasons ago and she and her family left a very big impression in my heart. Lindsay was diagnosed in August 2008 when she was just 3 w/ AML, and is in remission today!
Visit this Web site often to check back on my progress. You can also visit my personal site www.itsnotaboutthewalk.com to keep up with my progress and experience, read my blogs, and receive team information too!
Thanks in advance for all of your generous support and belief in me!
Walk On!

P.S. The event I'm racing in is the Virginia Beach Rock-n-Roll Half Marathon. This season, since my participants are run/walkers, I too will be doing a run/walk event on September 5, 2010. (Yes, Chrissie, I'm coming home!) Feel free to share this link with other friends and family of your own on my behalf. I need all the help I can get to reach my goal! Consider placing it as a link on your Facebook page too! Thanks friends!
