October 14th is getting SO close and I'm still not even half way to my fundraising goal - it's scary to think that I might have to scale back my plans and my fundraising for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and maybe run a race a bit closer to home this time.
I don't want to do it and I WON'T do it! I WILL raise all of my funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society - I WILL help save lives - I WILL cross that finish line in San Francisco!
Can you help? Donate over there! --------->
Last time I did this, I had a clip of me singing karaoke and dancing to Sir Mix a Lot's "Baby Got Back"...this time? I'm gonna show my "Gangsta" side.
The Challenge: I need at least FIVE (5) five dollar ($5) OR MORE donations made through this page by 4 o'clock EST on July 27th.
Your reward: A video of me singing/dancing/showing off my gangsta side to that 1990s classic by the braided one himself, Coolio - "Gangsta's Paradise"
This song has always held a place in my heart as the first rap song my parents didn't make me turn off and I learned ALL of the words. I'm so gangsta, y'all!
It's just $5 and not only are you getting to see me act a fool, but you're helping fund cancer research, patient services and more for the Leukemia and Lymphoma society - they help people live longer, better lives - and we can all help!
I've had people ask me recently about why I love the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society so much and why I've decided to take on the challenge to raise so much money and train for a half marathon. Two words - "Cancer Sucks."
I've been touched this week by the stories of two cancer survivors (one with Lymphoma and another with Breast Cancer) and now I'm feeling even more driven to make a difference.
I'm not a fundraising guru who can put together banquets or fundraisers that bring in tens of thousands of dollars; especially not in a strange city! I think we all need to work with the talents the big G-O-D gave us. Mine happens to be being goofy and making people laugh. So that's what I do.
I'm challenging my friends and family to donate just $5 (or more!) to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society through this page by Monday 7/30 at 5pm EST. I just need THREE people to donate and I'm going to pull out all the stops and get in costume for...
A MADONNA MEDLEY.
I'll post the video on Facebook and here and hopefully give you a little laugh. I'm in the process of making a cone bra as we speak, so don't let LLS down! Donate today!
A HUGE thank you to 5 of my Facebook friends who responded to my challenge yesterday! To recap - I asked that five of my friends donate $5 or more in a 24 hour window and I would grant the world of Facebook and my Team in Training website my rendition of "Baby Got Back."
Well - like I said, my friends came through! So, now I need to follow through on my end of the fun:
Enjoy!
My mother and I share something that's not a cute facial feature or manorisms or even something non-physical like our fantastic senses of humor. Nope. We share...hmm...how should I say this...pancake-esque posteriors. Yes. That'll work.
Since I've been running, however, my pancake booty is starting to change, ever so slightly, into a cute butt that actually fills out some jeans! SCORE! See, running doesn't only give you AMAZING legs, killer endurance and a pile of sweaty clothes to wash every day...it gives you things you couldn't even imagine - for me, that's a butt.
Now, you may be saying to yourself "Woah - Britt, TMI, sweetheart" but, you know me. I have very little shame when it comes to things I'm passionate about and while I was thinking of ways to help bring in some money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, I kept having "Baby Got Back" by Sir Mix a Lot run though my head.
I realized that I should put my skills to work for me so I can help raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. So, I'm doing it. If I can get 5 donations of $5 or more by 3pm (EST) on 7/18 - I will post a YouTube video here and on Facebook of me doing some killer karaoke to Sir Mix a Lot's "Baby Got Back."
I assure you. You don't want to miss this. DONATE TODAY!
