Racing to Save Lives
Dear Friends and Family,
I am very excited to be a part of Team inTraining (TNT), helping the Lukemia and Lymphoma Society's efforts to find a cure for blood cancers. I would like to share with everyone the reasons I decided to particpate in this triathlon through TNT and LLS.
There are two very dear people in my life right now who have cancer. My sister-n-law, Jennifer Brumback ( white shirt in the photo) was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumor in January of this year, and my step father George has grade V bladder cancer, which has spread to his prostate, and will require surgery to remove both of these organs. I know how devestated my family and I were to hear this news, and I want to do all I can to prevent another family from hearing that their loved one has this disease. I am watching Jennifer and George go through chemo right now, and I am doing this race to honor their bravery and to let them know I am fighting right along side them.
This will be my 2nd triathlon through TNT ( first race is 6/13), and I decided to do it again because it has been such an amazing experience! My September race is an Olympic distance triathlon, which is a one mile swim, 25 mile bike and 10K run in downtown DC. I am used to being up at 5:30 AM to train by this point, and really enjoy unleashing my inner athlete! I will complete my June race, rest a bit, then go at it again!
Thank you to all who have visited this page and made a contribution to TNT and LLS. I am deeply moved by your love and generosity!!! Please check back often, and I will update you on my training!
Love,
Candace
