Racing to Save Lives
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
On April 24, 2008 my precious 3 year old son, Joshua, was diagnosed with Leukemia (ALL) and my life was changed forever. I have spent many days trying to understand why. How could this happen? Unfortunately, I have met and made friends with many other families who are asking the same question. As I sit in the oncology clinic on a weekly basis with Joshua, I see that the need to find a cure for Leukemia is not an option, it is a must. We were honored to have the western chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society ask Joshua to be their honored hero for this seasons race. After taking Joshua to meet some participants of Team in Training at their first meeting, I decided to check off something on my "things to do before I die" list. Run a half marathon! So, I could not think of a better purpose or motivation than in honor of my own son. I would be honored for you to join with me in heart and prayer about my involvement with LLS and this marathon. Your financial support to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and to my cause will put us one step closer to finding a cure. My prayer is that one day, a family will not be sitting in the same position that we were on April 24, 2008.
Additionally, all of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event not only in honor of Joshua, but all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
Not only does LLS raise money for research, but they also give financial grants directly to families who are affected by a blood cancer. We were one of those families and the money came at a time when we really needed it. Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission. I can personally assure that you are donating to a wonderful orginization!
