The Flying Pig Half Marathon (13.1 miles) - May 6, 2012 in Cincinnati Ohio
Their Inspiration:
Dave Cameron, whose battle against leukemia began in July 2011, and Leah, the three year old daughter of a co-worker who was just diagnosed with leukemia on January 24th.
Their Goal:

Their Story:
Dave, age 30, was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in July 2011. His wife Amy, an oncology PA at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, spotted the earliest symptoms of the disease and was able to convince him to get a blood test before he became seriously ill. He underwent four rounds of chemotherapy and is currently in remission.
Leah, age 3, was taken to her pediatrician after Christmas when her parents noticed that she wasn't her usual energetic self. Preliminary testing showed that leukemia was possible, and a followup biopsy confirmed the diagnosis. She was admitted to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center on January 25th, where she is currently undergoing treatment.
Amy, Megan, Lauren, and Dee are fellow PAs at Wake Forest University Comprehensive Cancer Center and Julia works beside them as an Oncologist. They see first hand the trials that this terrible disease can bring at a moment's notice. With the diagnosis of Amy's husband and their co-worker's daughter, they formed a team to help raise funds for research that will help find cures for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease, and myeloma. Cancers of the blood have caused too many hardships as it is, and the attacks on friends and family members have pushed these friends into action. They are proudly joined by Julia's husband John and by Amy's husband Dave, who will stand with these five, who each fight on the frontlines of these awful diseases each day.
Thank you for partnering with them in this great cause. Your support is greatly appreciated, and will help find the cure to prevent future generations from dealing with the trials that cancer has inflicted upon our friends and family.
