Hi Everyone

When I first joined Team In Training five years ago I didn't realize that it would continue to be a huge part of my life. Being on a team for the last 5 years has made me a person that my family and friends are proud of(I know John would be too); they are proud of the accomplishments in my fundraising efforts ($10,000 so far) and proud of the fact that I have become a RUNNER. Thanks to the dedication of Coach Ed Beckley I have learned what it takes to take my new sport to levels I couldn't have imagined 5 years ago. My TNT family is part of my life and I can't imagine it without them and running. Thanks TNT for giving me this. As of April 2011 I have participated in 10 1/2 marathons and numerous 5 Ks --I still can't believe that I have been able to do this--I started with TNT in 2007 and walked my first 1/2 marathon and since then I have graduated to running and last November I completed the OBX 1/2 in a personal best time 0f 2 hrs 28 min. Without my team encouraging me I never could have accomplished this. GO TEAM!!!!

I am training to participate in the 2011 Lost and Found Colony 5K on October 16 as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. My fundraising goal this year is to raise $500 but I have a personal goal of $1000 to bring my 5 year total to $11,000!!! As always I am participating in my husband's John memory but this year I am also running in memory of Patty Hecht who lost her courageous battle with cancer and for some close friends who are currently battling cancer.

I have a mission-to help find cures and more effective treatments for blood cancers. To accomplish that mission, I’m participating in a sports endurance event as a member of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Team In Training. Like the other members of TNT, I will be raising funds to help find cures and better treatments for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma. Let us not forget that the research also helps in treating many other cancers as well. I’m improving the quality of my life by participating and with your support, I can help improve the quality of life for patients and their families as well.
