Racing to Save Lives One Barefoot Step at a Time!
That's me with my family after the 2010 Grandma's Marathon. The marathon was the most difficult, and most rewarding thing I've ever done for myself. After 26.2 grueling miles and four and a half hours, the first thing I thought of when I finished was, "when do I get to do this again!"
But this time I don't want to do a marathon just for me. I want to do it for people in need. That's why I'm excited to announce that I have recently signed up for Team in Training (TNT) through the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) in order to support their quest to find a cure for blood cancer.
I am running because I know what it's like to lose a loved one. On October 26, 2010, my father passed away at the age of 62. He had so many years of life left ahead of him. He was a good man and a great father. I want to do my part, however small, to make sure no other families lose a loved one before their time.

This year I will be fundraising for LLS with a goal of participating in the Honolulu Marathon on December 12, 2010. I will be running in memory of my father. And if all goes to plan, I will be running the marathon ENTIRELYBAREFOOT! That's got to be worth a few bucks right?
Just to let you know I'm serious, here's a picture of me before my last race.
In case you're wondering...I'm the one on the right.
LLS is an organization that I have supported for several years, and its mission is very personal for me. In 2004, my wife's closest friend Cassandra was diagnosed with Leukemia. It's a disease that almost took her life. Luckily, through the support of LLS, she made a full recovery and has been cancer-free for many years. Cassandra's family and friends have been heavily active with LLS since them. I hope that by running and fundraising for LLS that others afflicted with blood cancers can also find their way to a cure.
I have set a personal goal to fundraise at least $4,900 by December 1, 2010 for LLS's continued search for a cure. If all of my friends and family give a minimum of $25, I will be able to reach that goal! I encourage all of you to donate generously to this great cause! Of the money you donate, 76% will go directly to research and patient aid. I can also tell you that any money you donate is 100% tax deductible!
Donating is fast and easy. LLS accepts all major forms of payment.
You can also donate by sending a check to my address, which I will provide on request.
Thank you for your generous support!
