Racing to Save Lives!!!

Welcome to my Team In Training home page.

I'm training to participate in an endurance event as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives.

I truly want to help make an impact in the fight against blood cancers. I will be running for Michelle, my best friend of 20 years, who is in her third fight against leukemia. This current battle she is in has been her toughest and I've had to sit by and watch her fight for her life. I know it sounds cliche, but with the money we are all raising together - hopefully someday in the near future, someone won't have to see their best friend suffer the way I have. I am doing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!

Our Honor Patient Matthew Mellor has heard the sweet words of remission!! He was able to compete in his first triathlon last weeken since his leukemia diagnosis. WTG MATTHEW!!! Blood Cancer Awareness Month Resolution

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is urging supporters to contact their U.S. Representative to co-sponsor a Congressional resolution (H.RES. 1433) to designate September 2010 as Blood Cancer Awareness Month.

This resolution was recently introduced in the House by Representatives Walter Jones (Republican from North Carolina) and Betsy Markey (Democrat from Colorado). The resolution will highlight the impact of blood cancers in the United States each year and encourages greater support for blood cancer research and education.

I will be hosting a fundraiser for LLS Team in Training on my Birthday, June 24 at Sweet Tomatoes in Kansas City, MO. Instead of Birthday presents or a night out with my friends and family, I'm asking you to join me for fantastic soup and salad! 15% of what we spend will go directly to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society! The resturant is Sweet Tomatoes at 1309 Meadow Lake Pkwy, Kansas City, MO - off State Line Rd, near Ward Parkway Mall.
