Racing to Save Lives

Welcome to my Team In Training home page.

I am joining forces with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team in Training to run the Walt Disney Half Marathon on 9 January 2010. I intend to use this half marathon as the first step into running a full marathon.

All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!

I will be running this race in memory of my high school best friend Sara Cooper (pictured above). Our junior year of high school she was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma. A year later, she lost her battle. Sara was an inspiring friend who always dreamed of being in the medical field just so she could help others. I learned many things from her in our short four years together. She always held her head high, even in the darkest moments of her life. One lesson I learned from Sara is that there is a big difference in giving in to things beyond your control and giving up because you find it tough.
