Racing to Save Lives Welcome to my Team In Training home page! Thank you for visiting! Wednesday, December 30, 2009 It is difficult to believe that in just 10 short days I will be running in Walt Disney World! I cannot believe that it is here already, but I could not have done it without all of you! THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART! Happy New Year to all! Tuesday, November 17, 2009 THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP IN REACHING MY GOAL! Today, I officially reached the $4000 mark, and even exceeded that by $5! I cannot even begin to tell all of you how blessed I am and how much your support and thoughts have meant to me! All of your help will go towards finding a cure for this wretched illness! DISNEY HERE I COME!!!! Wednesday, November 11, 2009 Happy Veteran's Day and thank you to all of our service men and women who make it possible to live the lives that we do! Wow! 97% of my fundraising completed! It is so amazing to me just how much people are willing to do for each other, even when they are strangers. My mom's friends at work are a prime example. Immediately, so many of the ladies and gentlemen that she works with contributed to this very important cause, and they don't even know me... yet. Also, my roommate from college's mom spread the word through her work and a few people donated from there as well. THANK YOU TO ALL THE VERY GENEROUS PEOPLE WHO HAVE HELPED ME CONTRIBUTE TO THIS GREAT CAUSE! Tuesday, November 2, 2009 Well, just $780 more to go to reach my goal, and $580 to reach my mandatory minimum! I am a very fortunate person to have such caring and supportive people in my life! Some people who did not make it on the list because they donated in person are: The McDaniel College Athletes Andi Hoffman Salsaritas A special thanks to Sarah Mintz and Lauren Vilkas who conducted a 50/50 raffle on my behalf this past weekend! Thanks girls! Friday, October 30, 2009 I am just about $1600 from my goal of $4000; which is convenient as I am running 16 miles this weekend! My goal is to complete my fundraising by NOVEMBER 22ND, so feel free to contribute however you like! I ran the Baltimore Half Marathon in 1:52, so my goal for Disney World is 3:50! I am working hard to reach it... thanks for all of your thoughts and help! Also, great news! My roommate Becky will be participating in the half marathon the day before! GO TEAM! Why I am Running: I'm training to participate in the Walt Disney World Marathon as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure! My honored teammates here in the Baltimore area are Justin and Matthew. Justin is 16 and was diagnosed with ALL (Acute Lymphotic Leukemia) when he was 6 years old. He is currently in 10th grade and is a member of the Maryland State Boychoir. Matthew was diagnosed with ALL (Acute Lymphotic Leukemia) just before his 3rd birthday. He is learning how to play lacrosse and loves matchbox cars. Most of us are very fortunate to have our health, I am one of those people. Because there are so many who don't is the reason why I chose to run for this fantastic cause!
