Racing to Save Lives
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
Hello! My name is Helen P. Boveroux and I have joined up with the MD chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, in their TEAM IN TRAINING Program for the Sea Gulf Century bike ride on Saturday, October 10, 2009. You may wonder why I am riding a 100 mile bike ride. There are two different reasons. The first is that I am not a stranger to cancer and its effects on the patient and the family. My father died from cancer almost 30 years ago. Back then there was only radiation treatment, pain medication and an in-hospital death. Three years ago my mother died of a rare blood disorder of a different kind. She had Hospice, better pain medication and we spent every possible moment with her for her last three days. What a difference time and medical advancement made possible by research makes.
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission.
I hope you will visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. I would appreciate it if you would forward this web address to as many people as you can to encourage them to donate as well by word of mouth or email Thanks again
On Thursday I went out riding, it felt like I had just did the entire 100 miles. No matter which way I was heading, I was biking into a headwind. I am planning on doing a 60 mile ride along the C&O canal this Sunday, as well as longer rides during the week as I head to finish line. Please pray with me that I will be in the best physical shape that I can be for the 10th.
It is hard work as the miles go up, but I love a challenge! So, here is to my Mom & Dad and to Olivia and her continued progress.
My ride was Saturday October 10th the ride was the hardest physically and emotionally challenging thing that I have ever done to date. I completed my ride with the help & support of my efforts, my coach, and my team mates. For this I am honored to be part of TNT and their friends.
And again thank you all for you prayers and love and support!
