Racing to Save Lives
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
In 2008 a professor of mine, David Smith, was diagnosed with leukemia. Shortly after learning of this I received a flier about the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team In Training (TNT), an organization that helps train people to participate in endurance events while raising money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. I decided that I wanted to run in one of their marathons and raise money for research. Not long after I completed the marathon we thought that David was in the final stages of healing and becoming one of the lucky survivors to live out the rest of his life in cancer remission. A few days after all of this happy news he died suddenly and, because of the earlier news, somewhat unexpectedly.
I am now on my journey to become an Iron Girl through TNT. This will be my first triathlon, so I have a lot to learn in the next couple of months. Any help you can give will be appreciated either in advice or donations. Although what I have raised was not able to help my professor, I hope that what we raise now will help keep others from having to go through what he went through and what his family is still going through.
I will be keeping a journal of my progress in becoming an Iron Girl. If you would like to read it please visit: http://runningpatty.livejournal.com/
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission.
I hope you will visit my web site often.
Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your
support!
