Dec 29, 2012

My first long distance race was the Marine Corps Marathon in 2010 and I loved it. A year later, I was newly married and in my best physical shape ever. However, in November 2011, at the age of 32, I was diagnosed with stage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. I started chemotherapy with the wonderful doctors and nurses at Johns Hopkins Hospital. After 12 rounds of chemotherapy I completed my treatment on June 11, 2012.

I was ready to move on with my life and happy that the cancer was in remission, but in October 2012, a CT scan reveladed that the cancer was back. Several lymph nodes from my neck were removed through surgery and confirmed the diagnosis of a very rare and uncommon type of crazy Lymphoma called "Grey Zone Lymphoma" which is a combination of Hodgkins and Non-Hodgkins.

This is the second round and I am ready. I started a new round of intense chemoteraphy in December 21, 2012 at NIH.

Team in Training has been an essential aspect of my fight against cancer and I am grateful for the support and encouragement I have received from my TNT friends. My plan was to run the Hero-Thon in San Antonio, TX at the end of January 2013. I am scheduled now to run the Nike Half Marathon in DC in Spring 2013, so I can recover and run to inspire others and to raise funds towards a cure.

I will run in loving memory of my aunt Marusa who lost her battle to cancer. I please ask for your support: I will be raising funds to support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's (LLS) mission to help patients and work towards finding a cure. Thank you in advance for making a donation.

As of today, together, we have raised $1,730 USD towardsa cure. Thank you for your donations to: Daniela Salgado, Katherine Del Moral, Linda Scribner, Margaret Bugbee,Janet Scribner,Terry and Kathy Winn, Gerardo Orozco, Ana Gonzalez Barrera, Karen Barry, Michelle Arencivia, Spencer Olsen, Jerrod Schultz, Travis Behrens, April Kociolek, Geoffrey Ley, Kelli Livay, Bryce Brum, Victoria Shultz, Jake Henry, and David Winn.

I am grateful for all of your prayers, your energy, your encouragement, and your love that have been crucial in my fight to beat cancer.
