Raising Money to Fight Cancer
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
Raising Money to Fight Cancer
I'm training to participate in an endurance event as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. I watch biggest loser a lot because I’m very much interested in my health and on one episode they ran a marathon. That very night, I think it was in December 2009, I made myself a promise that I will run a marathon. I figured if they can do it then so can I. I had no idea where to start or how to go about training for such a task. I came across the pamphlet for LLS at a store in Pikesville MD. I read the pamphlet and it sounded very interesting. Then I realized that I was reading about the disease (Leukemia) that took the life of my uncle and grandfather in the 1980. I went to the information meeting at the Catonsville Library and decided that this is the cause I will train for. I was alarmed at the statistics that I heard. Every 4 minutes a person is diagnosed with the disease and every 10 minutes someone dies. That’s an alarming statistic and we have to do something to lower it. More and more research is needed.
My honored teammate for this event is Cody Dixon. He has AML Leukemia and he just turned 8. He was very sice and couldn’t play with his friends. He would sleep a lot and had fevers all the time. He spent a lot of time at John’s Hopkins hospital. Thanks to the LLS he is currently in remission, his blood is clean and he feels better. His wish is that he can give other people hop and let them know that they can beat this and any CANCER.
This is the perfect opportunity for those of you who want to fight cancer to support a great cause. Hey, if I can be out there every weekend training for something like a marathon then you can do your part by helping me with a donation. So please help me help the LLS to raise money for these terrible diseases. Your donations will support my participation in Team In Training and to help advance LLS mission to find a cure.
You can make a donation here on my website http://pages.teamintraining.org/md/frederck10/sbriscoe. You can also fill out the attached document and mail me a check or I can come to you to pick it up. No amount is too small so please find it in your heart to give for this worthy cause.

I went to RoadRunner Sports and got fitted for the correct tennis shoes so that I can be well prepared for the event on May 2nd. The right shoes make a world of difference and I thank Izzy at RoadRunner for getting me into the right pair.
