I am training to walk/run my first half marathon January 7, 2012 in Orlando at Disney World! One of the BIGGEST challenges of my life! I will complete the 13.1 mile race to raise funds and awareness for research leading to a cure for leukemia and related cancers.
This summer my life came to a screeching halt when my very strong mother casually mentioned the doctors told her she had cancer. I questioned her and resolved to attack the problem head on. When I got home I cried my eyes out and fell apart. Her last biopsy indicated no cancer BUT there is blood work lingering out there that remains in question.
Leukemia causes more deaths than any other cancer among children under the age of 20. Lymphomas are the most common blood cancers and incidence increases with age. The survival rate for myeloma is only 38.5 percent. Incidence is nearly twice as high among African Americans.
I have made a commitment to do this marathon and bring us 13.1 miles closer to providing hope, peace, and freedom to individuals battling blood cancer. I am hopeful you will join me in the fight against blood cancer.

Teams are made up of individuals. Without them, there is no team.
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
I have a mission-to help find cures and more effective treatments for blood cancers. To accomplish that mission, I’m participating in a sports endurance event as a member of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Team In Training. Like the other members of TNT, I will be raising funds to help find cures and better treatments for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma. I’m improving the quality of my life by participating and with your support, I can help improve the quality of life for patients and their families as well.
Please make a donation in support of my efforts with Team In Training and help advance the research for cures.
